Lincoln Lefty Led League with a 2.10 ERA

 

DURHAM, NC--The official statistician of the American Association of
Independent Professional Baseball, Sportsticker, has selected Lincoln
Saltdogs LHP Lindsay Gulin as the American Association's "Star of Stars".
This award is given annually by Sportsticker to the player with the best
overall statistical performance in their particular league.

 

Gulin finished first in the league with a 2.10 earned run average, second
with 13 wins, and third in strikeouts with 104. The southpaw allowed only 20
walks in 120 innings pitched and had an opponents' batting average of .204,
as the Saltdogs finished with a league best record of 65-31. The resident of
Issaquah, WA was a two-time Player of the Week for the weeks of May 15-21
and July 31-August 6. Gulin was the starting pitcher for the American
Association against the Can-Am League in the 2006 All-Star Game on July 18th
in El Paso, TX. Gulin was also named the top left-handed pitcher on the
American Association's Postseason All-Star team.

 

The 29-year-old was picked in the 16th round of the 1995 draft by the New
York Mets. He spent three years in the Mets system before being traded to
the Seattle Mariners in 1998. Gulin spent time pitching as well in the
Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers organizations and also the St. Paul
Saints. Gulin has a career record of 71-40 with a 3.52 ERA.
